A Crossword for Historical Mystery Lovers

It’s been a little while, I know, but I *have* sent out two newsletters (subscribe here!) since my last blog post, so I’m not totally slacking off with the updates. And this is a really fun one.

First things first: book 2 in the Olive Bright mystery series, A VALIANT DECEIT, will be out in late January 2022! It’s available for pre-order now, and I’ve linked my local indie, the marvelous Murder by the Book in Houston, which will have signed copies! The book is also up on Goodreads and BookBub, if you’d like to add it there.

As part of the promotion for A VALIANT DECEIT, I’ve created a crossword puzzle based on some of my favorite historical mysteries series. I figure that the sort of people who love following the clues of a good mystery are the very sort who love the challenge inherent in solving crossword puzzles. (I know I do!) I had so much fun creating this puzzle, and I tried, as much as possible, not to make the clues too difficult. But I will add a disclaimer…there are a few weird ones. As this is my first puzzle, I hope I can be forgiven.

The crossword is sized for 5×7 postcards, which have been printed for giveaways and in-person events (cross your fingers). But it’s perfectly suited for printing, so go forth and download the PDF! Best of luck with it, and let me know how I did! I hope you won’t need an answer key, but I’ve linked to it, just in case.

Olive Bright on BookishFirst

UPDATED: GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED.

Personally, I have been counting down to the release of Olive Bright, Pigeoneer for MONTHS, but it’s just now getting to the exciting part. Only two months and two days until Release Day, and things are happening!  Several big-shot, tastemaking authors have blurbed the book, and Kirkus has called it “delightful.”  And now, BookishFirst is offering readers the opportunity to get their hands on a copy!

They’ve posted a “get excited” preview of the book on their website, and starting on November 2nd, they’ll offer a few chapters as a First Look, and readers can enter for a chance to win an Advance Reader Copy by jotting in a First Impression.  There are 100 copies up for grabs and each comes with an “Inside the Story” booklet with lots of extra details and information.  So, be sure to pop over there and enter to win!

Welcome to the Loft!

Hello! I’m envisioning this as a cozy spot to chat mysteries, war on the homefront in WWII Britain, tea and cake, pigeons, and whatever else strikes a fancy. Not everyday, perhaps not even every week. On occasion, like a catch-up with friends. I admit I’m caught a bit off guard, as my website is needing to go live before I’ve prepared a fascinating post on what’s to come, but never fear: I’m on it! It’s coming. Until then, please enjoy the lovely cover of my debut mystery, OLIVE BRIGHT, PIGEONEER, as well as this cracking new website, designed by Websy Daisy.
